What happens when someone scans it
The code contains a vCard 3.0 record, the same format phones use to exchange contacts. iPhone shows an “Add to Contacts” card straight from the camera; on Android the camera or Google Lens offers to create a contact. Name, mobile number, email, organization, job title and website are the fields that import reliably on both platforms.
Keep it small so it scans fast
A vCard holds far more data than a URL, so the code gets dense quickly. Fill in only the fields you need, use error correction L or M, and print it at least 3 cm wide — larger if you include a long address or several numbers. A dense code on a 2 cm business card is the most common reason contact QR codes fail.
If you need a richer profile (photo, social links, multiple addresses), put those on a web page and use a website QR code instead; the contact card can carry the page URL.
